The nutty Nutritionist is a nutrition and science enrichment program designed for children to learn about nutrition and their health through hands-on food science, biology, chemistry experiments and creations. Children will learn how their body functions and responds to nutrition by experimenting with FUN food science!

Hear liquid burps, create energy with vegetables, make sense out of matter, emulate organ functions, bounce polymers, watch raisins dance, fossilize food, create your own poop, and more! By engaging in food experimentation and watching wacky demonstrations, your child will open their eyes to the world of nutrition as they learn about food components, the workings of the digestive system, how our bodies respond to nutrition, nutrition and disease, and so much more! Your child will take home numerous self-made nutty experiments! And we will be educating you as well! As part of our mission to motivate participants to eat healthier, your child will provide materials for you, including family friendly recipes and nutrition education!
Our Mission:
The nutty Nutritionist was developed by a Registered Dietitian (RD) with over 20 years of educating experience. Healthy nutrition is essential to a child’s growth and development. Good nutrition promotes physical fitness, reduced susceptibility to disease, and promotes cognitive development and academic success. Your child’s nutrition is strongly influenced by their school and home environment.
The mission of The nutty Nutritionist is to teach the science of nutrition to children ages 3-12 via fun, hands-on nutrition science experiments and activities while building a nutritionally sound foundation for today, and the future. To enhance you and your child’s healthy lifestyle, nutrition education materials and recipes, developed by a RD, are provided to each participant.
Nutrition Education in Demand:
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), childhood obesity is at epidemic proportions. In 2003-04, over 17% of children and adolescents (2-19 years of age) were overweight, and over 30% of adults were obese. These figures have doubled and tripled in the past twenty years. Children who are overweight beyond the age of six have a 50% chance of having a chronic, lifelong overweight struggle. Many conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and various forms of cancer, are increasingly common among our children. Depression may also result from poor nutrition, affecting a child’s academic success. Poor nutrition and lifestyle choices are to blame.
How well does your child eat? With our busy lifestyles today, children often fend for themselves in making nutrition choices. Additionally, children spend more than 6 hours a day engaged in a “screen time” activity. And, if you are like the average American, you eat at a restaurant an average of 1 out of every 5 meals. The nutty Nutritionist can benefit your family.
The nutty Benefits to Your Family:
With our busy lives, it is difficult to make healthy meals, let alone make sense of what we are purchasing. Lately, the concern for our food’s safety has been an added challenge. The nutty Nutritionist will guide you through these challenges and answer questions like: Which food additives are safe for me and my children? Should I choose organic? What are some healthy snack options? How can I build a nutritionally sound foundation for my child that will continue into adulthood? Materials provided by a Registered Dietitian (RD) will answer your questions and help you to overcome food challenges.
With The nutty Nutritionist, your child will become a little scientist while interacting with his peers. Watch, as his confidence soars when his own hypotheses come true! Your child will simply go nuts over the nutty science of food!
